The Centene Community Ice Center, situated in Maryland Heights, Missouri, within the greater St. Louis area, stands as a versatile multi-purpose facility. Found near Hollywood Casino St. Louis and the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, it holds a strategic location off Highway 141. Launched in September 2019 at a cost of $83 million, the complex is a collaborative effort, co-owned by the city of Maryland Heights, St. Louis County, the Blues NHL team, and the non-profit Legacy Ice Foundation. It’s skillfully operated by Spectra..
Comprising four distinct rinks, the center boasts a “feature” rink equipped with 2,500 tip-up seats and a state-of-the-art four-sided HD video scoreboard. The Blues’ primary practice rink accommodates up to 750 spectators, while the Bob Plager Community Rink offers bleacher seating for 400 and dedicated access for sled hockey. Adding to its versatility, “The Barn” is an outdoor rink covered by a roof and featuring a grandstand with a seating capacity of 4,000. Notably, during the hockey off-season, this very space transforms into the St. Louis Music Park, a vibrant concert venue with a capacious 4,500-person capacity.
