Tournament Rules
- Ringer Rule- A player shall score no more than 3 goals in a single game; the 4th goal scored by the player with 3 goals will not count, and a faceoff will result at Center Ice. If the player scores a “5th” goal, the team will receive a 2-minute bench minor penalty.
- Teams can roster up to 14 players + 2 extra for emergency purposes for a total of 16 players (14 players can dress and be on the bench per game). Players must play in 2 of 3 games to be eligible for the Championship game (unless an injury/illness has occurred). The roster is FINAL after the first game, with no substitutions unless injury, and MUST BE CLEARED WITH THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR BEFORE THE GAME.
- Standard hockey protective equipment is required: Shin pads, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, and a helmet. A Full cage/full Shield is recommended but not required.
- Slap shots are allowed in all divisions.
- Abusing Officials/Scorekeepers, physically or verbally, will not be tolerated. Players could face removal from the tournament. Officials will also be held to the same standard as players, NO BAITING PLAYERS.
- ANY physical altercations off the ice with other teams/players/fans will NOT be tolerated and you will be removed from the tournament and facility, and possibly cost your ENTIRE TEAM a chance of playing the remainder of the tournament.
- A major fighting or gross misconduct penalty will result in the player’s suspension for the next game and possibly from the tournament. Hockey is competitive, but don’t cost your team a skater all weekend. The player WILL remain in their locker room until the game is over, if the player comes back out to watch the game, there will be a 2-minute bench minor penalty called. If the player refuses to leave the game area his team will receive a forfeit loss (regardless of the game score).
- NO Trophy Hunting or sandbagging is allowed. We will monitor this very closely during the games, and if teams/players are found to be grossly playing down to win, they will be removed or bumped into the appropriate divisions. We all take time away to travel for this great sport. Let us keep the competition fair for everyone to enjoy.
- Each game will have three 13-minute periods with stop time, a 3-minute warm-up period before puck drop, and players will remain off the ice while the ice is being cut.
- If there is a 5-goal difference during the third period, the clock will keep running until the goal difference is less than 5.
- Any player who receives 4 penalties in a game will be assessed a Game Misconduct ( GAME REMOVAL) and potentially suspended for their next game at the tournament director’s discretion.
- If a team is assessed 12 penalties in a single game, the player with the highest PIMs will be removed from the game and possibly suspended for their next game.
- Each team is allowed one 30-second timeout in each game, including the Championship game.
Points/Wins:
A win is worth 2 points, OT win is worth 2, OT Loss is worth 1 point.
In case of a tie in the Round Robin standings, the following tiebreakers will apply:
Overtime rules
- Overtime will be a 5-minute sudden death 3 v 3.
- If a team incurs a penalty during overtime, the opposing team will add one player. If a team incurs a second penalty, the opposing team will add another player. After the penalty is over, the team serving the penalty will have one player join the ice to make it 4 v 4, until the next stoppage, then resume 3 v 3.
- If still tied after 5 minutes of overtime, a shootout will occur to determine a winner. Teams will select 5 players to shoot. If still tied after 5 shooters, 1 shooter from each team will be given a shot, and the shootout will be sudden death from that point on. All skaters must be given one shot during the shootout.
- Championship Game OT: 10 Minute run clock, 5v5. Each team will have (1) 30-second time out to use as they see fit.
- The players will fully serve penalties that occur in the 3rd period and carry over into overtime.

BDH Policies
- Game forfeits will result in a 2-0 win for the opposing team.
